Two Austrian nationals will be sentenced by the Nadi Magistrates Court tomorrow for breaching the quarantine measures in the Western Division.

The accused, Floren Wolfgang, 25, and Thomas Kronbichler, 24, appeared separately before Magistrate Siromi Turaga during the special court sitting on Friday.

They pleaded guilty to one count of failure to comply with directions of a medical officer, and were remorseful.

The court heard that the two were arrested at the Nadi International Airport on April 7 after it was discovered they had failed to self-quarantine themselves for the mandatory 14-day period.

They had checked in at the Warwick Fiji Resort on March 25 from their respective flights in Nadi.

They moved to Tokatoka Resort before it closed on April 6, and later checked into the Gateway Fiji Hotel.

Upon learning of a flight to Los Angeles, they tried to check in at the airport, when they were told to complete the self-isolation requirement.

Magistrate Turaga granted bail, issued a stop departure order, and for them to surrender their travel documents.
