Bail has been refused for a man charged with the murder of a doctor in Nadi.
Peceli Rokoravolo, 38, appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge at the High Court in Lautoka this morning for his bail ruling.
He is charged with the murder of Dr Isireli Biumaitotoya, commonly known as Dr Leighley Darling, who was allegedly killed between August 31 and September 1.

Rokoravolo was represented by Edwin Wainiqolo, while the State was represented by Joeli Naivalu.
The court heard a bail application from the defence, with the accused having been in remand for about seven months.

The defence argued for bail based on the accused’s family circumstances and his right to a fair trial.
The accused, a father of six, claimed to own a barbecue business and to be the sole breadwinner, but the court found insufficient evidence to support these claims.
Justice Aluthge refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, the strength of the prosecution case and the need to protect the public.
