Suva Magistrate Deepika Prakash yesterday released a 53-year-old man on bail.
Nemani Bainivalu was charged with allegedly spreading false information on COVID-19.
He allegedly uploaded a malicious and misleading post on his Facebook account that allegedly caused anxiety and alarm.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Gandhi Prasad objected to bail saying the case is of national interest and there is a rise in the prevalence of cases of a similar nature in Fiji.
Magistrate Prakash released the accused on $1000 surety bail and issued a stop departure order against him.
The case has been adjourned to May 18 for mention.
