Be warned.

That was the message from Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua today as the Lautoka High Court handed down landmark sentences in Fiji’s largest-ever drug case—the $2 billion methamphetamine bust.

Naivalurua commended the convictions of Justin Ho, David Heritage, Louie Logaivau, Ratu Aporosa Davelevu, Sakiusa Tuva, Jale Aukerea, Ratu Osea Levula, Cathy Tuirabe, and Viliame Colawaliku, describing it as proof of Fiji’s resolve to dismantle transnational organised crime networks.

“This verdict sends an unmistakable message: Fiji will not stand by while illicit drugs infiltrate our communities and endanger our future,” Naivalurua said.

He warned that under the Police Uplift programme, government was cracking down on corruption, restoring integrity, and boosting operational strength.

“Those who betray public trust—whether directly or indirectly involved—will be held accountable. No one is above the law, and no status or connection will shield anyone from justice,” he stressed.

Naivalurua also appealed to families, parents, and young people to resist the lure of drugs, calling “bluetoothing” a life-threatening practice.

“Drugs will destroy your future, damage your health, and tear families apart,” he said, urging addicts to seek help through free support and treatment services.

“Strong families are the first line of defence,” he added.

“Together, we must reinforce our values and community bonds to overcome this crisis.”
