The Bill to amend the 2013 Constitution will not be tabled in Parliament this week.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirmed this, saying he had not seen the Bill with only three sitting days remaining.

“I haven’t seen the Bill for these three days remaining,” Mr Rabuka said.

He said he had instructed Attorney-General Siromi Turaga and Solicitor-General Ropate Green to expedite the process, particularly the drafting of the Bills.

This, he explained, was based on the Supreme Court’s opinion and how it should be interpreted into government action.

Mr Rabuka added the process would also involve the establishment of a Constitution Review Commission and a Joint Parliamentary Select Committee once the Bill was tabled.
