Case Of Lautoka School Teacher Dismissed

Mr Kumar was charged for allegedly assaulting the boy on November 18, 2020 causing actual bodily harm. The victim and his father were present in court.

The Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday dismissed a case of a school teacher who was charged for allegedly assaulting a seven-year-old school student last year.

Lautoka Magistrate, Nayani Kasturiratne dismissed the case after saying that the accused, Hirdesh Kumar, and the victim’s family had reconciled.

Mr Kumar was charged for allegedly assaulting the boy on November 18, 2020 causing actual bodily harm. The victim and his father were present in court.

Mr Kumar waved his right to a private counsel.

He was represented by defence lawyer, Salvin Nand.

Magistrate Kasturiratne asked the father of the victim inside court if he had reconciled with Mr Kumar, he replied, yes.
