Charlie Charters, 57, returned to Fiji yesterday, arriving on flight FJ910 from Sydney with his wife, Vanessa, ahead of his next court appearance.

Charters had been granted permission by the Suva Magistrates Court to travel to Australia on March 6, on the condition he return by March 26. He is due to appear in court on Monday.

On March 4, Charters pleaded not guilty to two charges of aiding and abetting a breach of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Act.

Responding to criticism on social media, Charters dismissed detractors, saying: “Judge me by my enemies, including the grubby social media trolls in their baggy Y-fronts, sitting all alone in their basements cranking out their nonsense.”
