Corrections Personnel Found Guilty Of Drinking With Friend

A Fiji Corrections Service personnel was yesterday fined for breaching COVID-19 preventative restrictions and warned by the presiding magistrate in Suva yesterday.
Corrections personnel Ifereimi Ravoka appeared with his friend, Timoci Tupou, for failing to comply with lawful order despite knowing there was a curfew in place for the Suva to Nausori containment area.
They were found drinking along Sukanaivalu Road in Nabua on May 15.

They pleaded guilty and were fined $400 each.
In sentencing the pair, Magistrate Thushara Thennakoon said the Fiji Corrections Service should be made aware that one of their staff has been fined for the offence.
They were given 28 days to pay the fine and will reappear on June 21.
