Court sets date for MP Prasad’s challenge to Rokoika’s appointment

Two of those grounds mirror the challenge filed by former Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, whose case is also presided over by Justice Bull.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad’s application challenging the appointment of Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Commissioner Lavi Rokoika will be heard by Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull.

Prasad appeared with his lawyer, Richard Naidu, before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere this morning, where he outlined four grounds for challenging Rokoika’s appointment.

Two of those grounds mirror the challenge filed by former Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, whose case is also presided over by Justice Bull.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad’s application challenging the appointment of Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Commissioner Lavi Rokoika will be heard together with Deputy PM, Manoa Kamikamica by Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull.

Both men currently have pending matters in the Suva Magistrates Court. Prasad is charged with failing to comply with statutory declaration disclosure requirements, while Kamikamica faces charges of perjury and giving false information during the Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of former FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali.

The case has been adjourned to next Wednesday for hearing before Justice Bull.
