Two Cypriot brothers walked out of the Magistrates Court in Suva with big smiles when their case involving over $200,000 was closed.

Cyprus brothers’ case dismissed as remand period considered jail time served
Two Cypriot brothers walked out of the Magistrates Court in Suva with big smiles when their case involving over $200,000 was closed.
Loizos Petridis and Cleanthis Petridis were acquitted for charges of obtaining property by deception and attempt to obtain property by deception, however, they were found guilty for the charge of possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

In the sentence, Magistrate Jeremiah Savou said the maximum penalty for the offence was two years imprisonment or a fine of $12,000. He noted that the brothers had been in remand custody for a period of two years and six days which Magistrate Savou considered as jail time already served.
