FICAC Appeals Former UniFiji Registrar Arya’s Acquittal

Arya was charged by FICAC for one count each of abuse of office and general dishonesty causing a loss.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has filed an appeal against the acquittal of former Registrar of the University of Fiji, Kamlesh Arya.

Arya appeared before the Fiji Court of Appeal Judge Justice Chandana Prematilaka on Monday.

Arya was charged by FICAC for one count each of abuse of office and general dishonesty causing a loss. He was found not guilty and was acquitted by Justice Riyaz Hamza in May last year. Justice Prematilaka ordered FICAC to file their submissions by the next court date, on August 27.
