Two Fijian men have appeared at the Bankstown Local Court in Australia after being charged with attempting to access 128 kilograms of cocaine, estimated to be worth more than A$63 million (FJ$94 million).

Cyspian Buadomo, 26, and Aisea Vatuwaqa, 24, were refused bail on Monday following multiple counts of attempting to possess the illicit consignment.

The pair were arrested following investigations into a shooting incident at a home in Concord on July 3.

During the investigation, police uncovered evidence suggesting the group was also allegedly involved in importing consignments of illicit drugs into New South Wales.

Last Saturday, a consignment containing 128 kilograms of cocaine arrived at Sydney Airport and was seized by Australian Border Force officers, alongside the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad and the Australian Federal Police.

Buadomo and Vatuwaqa were allegedly caught attempting to access the consignment at a freight forwarder in Alexandria before being arrested on Hunter Street in Condell Park, Sydney.

During searches, police reportedly seized more than FJ$26,000 in cash, 4 kilograms of cocaine, 110 grams of methamphetamine, and 4 kilograms of an unidentified crystal substance.
