First In The Pacific: Bench Book On Children Launched In Suva
The Bench Book on Children which outlines guidelines for judges handling child-related cases is the first of the its kind in the Pacific.

The Bench Book on Children which outlines guidelines for judges handling child-related cases is the first of the its kind in the Pacific.
The launch in Suva yesterday was done by Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar.
Acting Chief Justice Kumar said: The Bench Book on Children sets out very useful guidelines as to how judges, magistrates, lawyers are to communicate with children at different stages of their life from Infancy to adolescence to ensure children’s best interest.

“At this point, I wish to acknowledge and thank UNICEF for all the assistance provided to the Judicial Department to date to ensure that we have appropriate facilities to deal with children and not to make the fearful intimidated or vulnerable when they appear in court,” he said.
