Four Accused Plead Not Guilty To Aggravated Robbery

Four men, who are facing a joint charge of aggravated robbery, have pleaded not guilty.
Samuela Delai, Samisoni Bilolevu, Boni Savu and Josaia Lukuta appeared before High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe in Suva yesterday.
It is alleged that the four accused, with another person who is unknown, on October 15, 2019, at Nasinu, allegedly robbed the complainant of his assorted items and $450 cash.

They allegedly used force on the complainant before committing the alleged offence.
State prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Juleen Fatiaki told the court that there were direct and full admissions in the caution interview, however, two of the four accused persons were challenging the record of the caution interview.
Defence lawyer from the Legal Aid Commission, Aarti Prakash, representing Bilolevu and Lukuta, told the court that her clients were raising allegations of assault and that no rights were read out to them when arrested.
Ms Fatiaki told the court that all rights were properly given to all the accused persons.
The matter has been adjourned for voir dire hearing on November 6.
Bail for all four accused persons have been further extended.
