Four Suspects In Alleged Visa Scam Investigated In Fiji

Four suspects, believed to be part of an alleged work permit scam are under Police investigation.

Spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that 3 men from Bangladesh  lodged a report at the Namaka Police Station.

She said: “I confirm the report was lodged on June 10 and is under investigations.”

According to Ms Naisoro the three men claimed they had given large sums of money to four people and in return they would get work permit visas here.

One of them, Lal Chand claimed they arrived here on April 19 and have yet to receive their work permit visas.

Mr Chand claimed that before leaving Bangladesh they had to pay FJ$15,000 each to the agent that was arranging their visas.

They came to Fiji to work as heavy machine operators.

Mr Chand also claims that they were promised free accommodation, meals and a salary.

He said they had been living in a farm in Buabua, Lautoka.

He said they have lodged a report at the Namaka Police Station on the alleged scam.
