Judge Discharges Man On Aggravated Robbery Charge

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has filed a nolle prosequi in the matter of a 26-year-old man facing robbery charge.
Taitusi Qoli was discharged of a count of aggravated robbery by High Court Judge, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe on Thursday.
This is after the ODPP prosecutor Shirley Tivao filed a nolle prosequi (a formal notice to discontinue or dismiss legal proceedings) in the matter.

Justice Rajasinghe said the court discontinued the proceedings against Qoli and discharged the accused accordingly.
He also ordered the officer in charge to check on Qoli’s pending matters before he was to be released from the Suva Remand Centre.
Qoli was alleged to have engaged in an aggravated robbery with others.
They allegedly robbed a 55-year-old woman of $110,000, a black knapsack bag containing $3000 and two USB drives, from the Western Union branch at Damodar City in Suva.
