A man charged with the murder of Dr Isireli Biumaitotoya will stand trial in July after being denied bail by the High Court in Lautoka.

Ratu Peceli Rokoravolo, 38, appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge yesterday.

The court heard that Dr Biumaitotoya, also known as Leighley Darling, was allegedly killed between August 31 and September 1, following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department.

Justice Aluthge set the trial for July.

Defence counsel Edwin Wainiqolo told the court he intended to withdraw from representing the accused due to other commitments during the trial period.

Justice Aluthge directed Mr Wainiqolo to discuss the matter with his client and formalise any application to withdraw.
