Juvenile Sentenced For Use Of False Information

A juvenile who was convicted for registering under a false name using false information on various occasions was sentenced in the Suva's Magistrates Court today.
The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) had charged the individual with two (2) counts of Giving False Information to a Public Servant and one (1) count of Making a False Statement.
In delivering the Sentence, Resident Magistrate Ms Geethani Wijesinghe said that the offences committed were very serious in nature and attracted deterrence as a lesson for the individual and the public at large.

Therefore, a sentence of six (6) months, which is suspended for three (3) years, was passed.
The Accused had lodged a Registration of Employee application for a Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) Joint Card with FNPF using a fake Birth Certificate registration number and a Tax Identification Number (TIN) under a different name.
The Accused also used a fake Birth Certificate to register as a voter with the Fiji Elections Officer.
