Lateef Remanded On Drug Charge After Raid

A 59-year-old former Suva lawyer who was arrested last Tuesday night following a drug raid at his house in Suva, has been further remanded in custody.

A 59-year-old former Suva lawyer who was arrested last Tuesday night following a drug raid at his house in Suva, has been further remanded in custody.

Shazran Abdul Lateef appeared before Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama at the Magistrates Court in Suva yesterday.

The matter was called at Sigatoka as there were no court sittings in Magistrates Court in Suva and Nausori as the Magistrates were engaged in a workshop in Sigatoka.

Lateef is charged with one count of found in possession of illicit drugs.

The drug raid had resulted in the seizure of clear zip lock plastic containing white crystal substances which was believed to be methamphetamine and later tested positive.

The matter has been adjourned for mention on March 23.
