Law Dispute At UniFiji

A dispute has developed at the University of Fiji.
Two opposing complaints have been lodged with the Police.
One is by a law student against the Acting Vice Chancellor Shaista Shameem while the other is by UniFiji against the student, Filipe Bainivalu.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro has confirmed Police receiving both the complaints and said: “He complained about unlawful confinement allegations and they (UniFiji) complained against his alleged unruly behaviour within the university premises.”

The student has claimed that Ms Shameem threatened that he would not be allowed entry to the bar as a lawyer or any profession after he raised issues over some emails.
Ms Shameem said in response: “I am only able to state that, all matters regarding this student are now with the Police and I am unable to make any comments until the Police have concluded their investigation.”
