The case against Sevuloni Naucukidi, who is accused of threatening a member of his support staff in July 2025, was adjourned today after he failed to appear in court.

Defence lawyer Samuela Savu told the court that his client was unable to attend and requested that his absence be excused.

Appearing before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne, Mr Savu said important documents were still being prepared and would be filed before the next court date. He added that any issues the defence intended to raise could be addressed during the trial.

Magistrate Somaratne reminded the defence that the court could not determine procedural matters until all required documents were submitted. He directed that the defence filings be provided before the next mention so the court could decide how the case should proceed.

The matter has been adjourned to March 4.
