Man Accused Of Assaulting Stepson Further Remanded

A man was further remanded in custody by the Magistrates Court in Suva on serious charges of domestic violence.

Tomasi Leqeta, 43, charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, appeared before Magistrate Joseph Daurewa in a special court sitting in Suva, yesterday.

The accused told the court that he had sought the complainant’s forgiveness.

It is alleged that Leqeta had assaulted his step son at their home.

Magistrate Daurewa told the accused that because it was a domestic violence case, bail would not be granted. The matter was adjourned to May 8.
