Man Wearing Cousin’s Police Uniform In Viral Tik Tok Video Gets 3 Months

A 26-year-old man of Waicoba was sentenced to three months imprisonment by the Sigatoka Magistrate Court yesterday for wearing a police uniform.
The accused, Ravuama Sego, a hotel worker appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou in a special court sitting. He was charged with one count of wearing uniform without authority and one count of disobedience of lawful order.
Police Inspector Mohammed Shameem represented the state.

The court heard that the accused wore a police uniform on top of his tights and posted the video on Tik Tok, a social media platform.
The uniform belonged to his cousin who was not aware of the incident until the video went viral.
Inspector Shameem told the court that the accused was on a 12 months bound-over with a fine of $300 for a previous conviction.
The accused pleaded guilty.
Magistrate Savou sentenced the accused to three months imprisonment at the Natabua Correction Facility. He has 28 days to appeal.
