Man Who Allegedly Claimed To Have Coronavirus To Take Plea On April 1
A 24-year-old man who claimed to have recently returned from overseas and experienced the symptoms of novel coronavirus COVID-19 will enter a plea next month.

A 24-year-old man who claimed to have recently returned from overseas and experienced the symptoms of novel coronavirus COVID-19 will enter a plea next month.
Simione Sekonaia Batimona Nakuna Jnr appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
He is to appear in court on April 1 for a plea.

Nakuna Jnr is charged with two counts of giving false information to a public servant and one count of malicious act.
For the first count of giving false information, it is alleged that on February 25 in Suva, the accused gave false information to staff nurse Ukashni Kumar.
He allegedly told Ms Kumar that he had contracted coronavirus while travelling from Japan.
He knew that this information was false.
Nakuna Jnr also told a doctor, Vinita Vandana, that his name was Simione Mila of Namadi Heights.
For the offence of malicious act, it is alleged that the accused told both the medical professionals that he was suffering from coronavirus symptoms which tended to create alarm and anxiety.
Nakuna Jnr’s bail was further extended.The case was adjourned to April 1 for mention.
