Mechanic In Custody For Alleged False Report

A 48-year-old mechanic, charged with one count of giving false information regarding the theft of his car, has been remanded in custody.
Phillip Rohit, appeared at the Magistrates Court in Nasinu, yesterday.
It is alleged that he filed a false report regarding the theft of his car from his home at Davuilevu Housing last Thursday.

Roadblocks were erected by the Police as per the normal measures to stop the vehicle from moving into another division and all officers were alerted to conduct searches and lookout for the vehicle.
However, upon further investigation, the accused allegedly admitted to lying about the incident as the vehicle was involved in an accident at Koronivia a day prior to the report being lodged.
The vehicle was later found at a towing company base in Nausori and the accused was charged with one count of giving false information to a public servant.
He will reappear on November 4 for formal bail application.
