Medical Intern Convicted Of Dangerous Driving, Driving Under The influence And Breaching Curfew

A Medical Intern at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital has been convicted for three counts of dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and breaching curfew orders.
The accused 25-year-old Jeremiah James Dreketirua appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili in Police custody and pleaded guilty to all charges.
The facts of the case revealed that on Tuesday night the accused drove a vehicle with registration KG 334 at around 10pm and caused an accident when the vehicle veered off the road along Ratu Sukuna Road in Nasese.

He was tested on the Dragger machine and the result of his blood test showed there was 73 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath.

The case has been disposed off after the accused paid his fine in Court.
