Five Fijian nurses have been remanded by the Nauru Court after they allegedly broke COVID-19 restrictions over the weekend.

This was confirmed by Nauru President Lionel Aingimea.

In his weekly update, Mr Aingimea said the incident happened at the Menen Hotel Quarantine facility.

Three of the five nurses were repatriated from Fiji last week and were being quarantined at the hotel.

A day after their arrival on Saturday, two nurses allegedly went and visited them.

They were able to communicate through the fencing at the back of the quarantine facility.

All five nurses were arrested by Police and were ordered by the court to be detained for two weeks.
