Nausori Highlands Tragedy: Isoof Stays In Remand

Mohammed Raheesh Isoof, the man who is facing murder charges of a family from Legalega in Nadi was further remanded by the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.
Isoof, who is charged with five counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, appeared before High Court Judge, Justice Chamath Morais.
It is alleged that on August 25 and 26 of last year, the accused murdered carpenter, Nirmal Kumar, his wife Usha Devi, 54, their daughter, Nileshni Kajal , 34 and Kajal’s two daughters Sana, 11 and Samara, 8.

He was represented by Unaisi Baleilevuka, who was under the instructions of Iqbal Khan while the state was represented by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The state told the court the matter was at the Pre-Trial Conference (PTC) stages and was waiting for a response from the defence counsel on the PTC documents.
Ms Baleilevuka requested if the matter could be stood down and adjourned to a later date to allow Mr Khan to address the issues on the PTC.
The matter has been adjourned to February 7, 2020.
