Office Of The Director Of Public Prosecution Withdraws Theft Charges Against Shazran Abdul Lateef
Lateef was charged with two counts of theft.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has withdrawn theft charges against Suva lawyer, Shazran Abdul Lateef.
Lateef, 58, appeared before Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara yesterday.
Lateef was charged with two counts of theft.

For the first count, it was alleged that Lateef with others on January 18, 2019, at Suva, dishonestly appropriated or stole three Samsung J6 mobile phones valued at $1797, the property of Vodafone Fiji Limited.
For the second count, it was alleged that Lateef with others on December 28, 2018, at Suva, dishonestly appropriated or stole three Ruio i7 tablets valued at $597, the property of Vodafone Fiji Limited.
Prosecutor Neelraj Sharma made the application to withdraw the charges of theft, however, he told the court that the ODPP was still proceeding with the charge of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
Magistrate Wickramasekara granted the application and discontinued the matter of theft against Lateef.
In the illicit drugs case, the matter was adjourned to July 30 to set a hearing date.
