Rohit Latchan Fined $500 After Found Guilty

Rohit Ram Latchan has been fined $500 after being found guilty of two counts of undischarged bankrupt acts as a director.

Latchan appeared before Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama yesterday for his sentencing.

Latchan was charged for three counts of undischarged bankrupt acting as a director contrary to Section 189 (1) of the Companies Act. However, after the hearing, he was found guilty and convicted for two counts and acquitted on the third count.

Latchan, on October 28, 2014, at Suva, declared bankrupt by the Magistrates Court in Suva and not having received his discharged acted as a director of or directly or indirectly took part in the management of Latchan Holdings Limited without the leave of the court by signing as the Director of Latchan Holdings Limited on application for Caveat no 80485.

Latchan, on the same day at Suva, being declared a bankrupt by the Magistrates Court in Suva and not having received his discharge acted as a director of or directly or indirectly took part in the management of Latchan Holdings Limited without the leave of the court by signing as the Director of Latchan Holdings Limited on application for Caveat no 804806.

He was ordered to pay the fine of $500 as an aggregated fine in respect of both counts, with a default term of imprisonment of 50 days.

Latchan was given 28 days to appeal.
