Saimoni Rokotunidau, who is charged with the attempted murder of a police officer, has been remanded in custody after allegedly breaching his bail conditions.
During proceedings, Rokotunidau told the court he had wires in his mouth and appeared to have difficulty speaking.
Justice Dane Tuiqereqere directed Police to arrange for him to be medically examined by a doctor.

Rokotunidau is scheduled to appear before the Nasinu Magistrates Court this afternoon in relation to the alleged bail breach.
The matter remains before the court.
