Senior Police officer charged with attempting to pervert justice

It is alleged that in 2024 she interfered with an investigation involving her brother, Ritesh Prakash.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Reshmi Dass has been charged with one count of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

She appeared before Magistrate Semi Babitu at the Lautoka Magistrates Court on Monday.

ASP Dass is based at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters in Suva.

It is alleged that in 2024 she interfered with an investigation involving her brother, Ritesh Prakash.

Prakash had been charged with criminal intimidation and attempted murder of his de facto partner, Sangeeta Devi, in Nadi.

ASP Dass was represented by her husband and lawyer, Nischal Dass.

She has been granted bail and will reappear in court on March 30.
