A 7-year-old boy was allegedly raped and sexually assaulted by four men - including two teenagers, on separate occasions spanning five years.

This was revealed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in its monthly rape and sexual offences statistics released yesterday.

Two 17-year-old boys and two 21-year-old men have been charged with 11 representative counts of rape and three representative counts of sexual assault of the child.

The alleged offending occurred on separate occasions between 2018 and 2023.

The accused, who were initially charged separately, have since had their cases consolidated because all offences relate to the same victim.

The April 2026 statistics show 17 indictments were filed in the High Court, covering 59 counts of serious sexual offences – 49 counts of rape, seven counts of sexual assault, and three counts of indecent assault.

Of the 18 victims recorded, 10 were under the age of 18. Three of the 20 accused persons were also juveniles.

Five incidents involved victims and accused persons who were related, including a 57-year-old man charged with raping three of his nieces, aged 7, 11 and 13.

A Nolle Prosequi - a formal discontinuance of prosecution - was filed in five cases due to insufficient evidence, victims being unavailable, or their inability to recall incidents.

The ODPP noted no false complaints were recorded for the month.
