'Stressed' Man Fined $50 For Possession Of Illicit Drugs

Hazelman sought the court’s forgiveness. He told Magistrate George that he wanted to relieve his stress from work.

A 36-year-old Marine Engineer was fined $50 yesterday after he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of illicit drugs.

Mark John Hazelman was arrested on Sunday morning following a Police raid at the Vitivou shop in Flagstaff, where he was found acting suspiciously outside his car.

Magistrate Waleen George heard that Police found 0.6grams of marijuana in his car.

Hazelman sought the court’s forgiveness.  He told Magistrate George that he wanted to relieve his stress from work.

The accused was ordered to pay his fine within 30 days or face five days imprisonment in default.

His case has been adjourned to May 22 for review.

Magistrate George told him that if he paid his fine, his case will be discharged without a conviction.
