Suspect In Alleged Party Posts Questioned For Rape

Police raided the National Federation Party headquarters in Tamavua on Tuesday night.
The suspect, who was taken in by Police for questioning in regards to the National Federation Party and suspended SODELPA raids on Tuesday night, is being questioned for rape.
The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed by Police, was questioned by Police in Suva in relation to social media posts.
Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said he was questioned and released in compliance with the maximum 48-hour custody period. He was taken in at the Namaka Police Station for allegations of rape.

He is alleged to have raped a 13-year-old girl in Nadi.
Ms Naisoro said even though the accused had been released by Police in regards to the first allegation, investigations into the matter continued.
At this point, no further information will be released by Police about the matter.
Vice President for suspended SODELPA Vijay Singh said he was made aware about the raid, however, could not reveal any more information.
In a press statement, NFP refuted claims of any connections with the suspect.
The party said the suspect had gone to their Lautoka office in 2018 offering to help their western-based candidates, however, he was not a party staff nor was he paid by them.
