Taveuni Teacher charged with abduction granted bail

A teacher accused of abducting a Year 10 student was granted bail by the Magistrates Court in Taveuni yesterday.

Ronal Ronish Lal, 39, who is charged with one count of abduction, appeared before Magistrate Semi Babitu.

The alleged communication was discovered by Lal's wife, who reported the matter to the school principal.

It is further alleged that on the night of June 7, 2026, Lal was found with the student inside his vehicle near her home. The matter was subsequently reported to Police for investigation.

The case has been adjourned for mention on June 24.
