Two people were questioned and released following continuing investigations by Police in the case of the mysterious disappearance of Eliki Yaco from Nukuni Village, Ono-i-Lau on May 31.

The investigation file is now with Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters, said Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro.

Mr Yaco was seen on the island where he picked up a Government worker and her partner from a picnic spot.

Police questioned the both of them.

It is alleged that he was attacked by a shark on their way back to the island.

“Our team from CID are going over the findings before deciding the next course of action,” Ms Naisoro said.

Mr Yaco’s father, Eliki Rarawa Senior, brushed aside speculations circulating on social media about his son’s disappearance.

“I only hope that investigations will be carried out in a timely manner and that we get the answers that we continually seek for,” Mr Rarawa said.

The Government worker had since been reposted for her safety.
