Two boys aged 13 and 15 were among those charged with rape in November, according to monthly sexual-offence statistics released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

A 15-year-old boy accused of raping a 7-year-old boy from his village, and a 13-year-old boy accused of raping an 8-year-old girl, also from his village.

In total, prosecutors filed 12 indictments containing 27 counts of serious sexual offences for the month, including 22 counts of rape, one of indecent assault, one of defilement, and three of sexual assault.

Nine of the 12 victims were children under 18, while two of the 12 accused were juveniles. Ten victims were female and two were male.

Six incidents involved victims and accused who were related.
Among the most serious domestic cases:

  • An 80-year-old man was charged with four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 12-year-old granddaughter.
  • A 69-year-old man was charged with three counts of raping his 9-year-old granddaughter.
