Two men to appear in court today over viral assault video

Two unemployed men from Natokamu Settlement, Labasa, are expected to appear in the Labasa Magistrates Court today, charged with two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The charges relate to a video of an assault that went viral on social media.

Police confirmed both accused are 33 years old.

Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga said the case should serve as a warning to people who try to take the law into their own hands.

“We are now into the festive season and many will be involved in festivities. If heated situations arise, I hope common sense will prevail,” Mr Lutunauga said.
