More than 19,000 Year 8 students across Fiji will begin their national examinations tomorrow, marking the start of the 2025 external exam season.

At the National External Examination Dedication Service held at the FMF Gymnasium on Friday, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro reminded the students that success in education depends not only on academic effort but also on spiritual and moral grounding.

“While schools provide academic learning, families and faith communities instil essential values such as humility, compassion, integrity, and respect,” Mr Radrodro said.
“Both education and values are crucial to raising young people who are academically competent, morally strong, and spiritually grounded.”

He urged students to stay focused, maintain discipline, and take care of their wellbeing throughout the exam period, acknowledging the hard work and sacrifices made by teachers and parents.

“I commend the dedication of all our students who have been preparing over the past months,” he said.
“Approach your exams with confidence — the Ministry has full faith in your potential to contribute positively to Fiji’s future.”

At the event, Reverend Alifereti Bulai encouraged students to let faith guide them through their studies, saying the light of the Holy Spirit would give them courage and wisdom to make good decisions and overcome challenges.

According to the Ministry, 19,007 students will sit the Fiji Year 8 Certificate Examination from 6–8 October across 717 centres, compared to 18,973 last year.

The Year 13 exams will run from 27 October to 6 November, and Year 12 exams from 11–21 November.

The dedication service marks the start of a crucial period for thousands of young Fijians, as the nation comes together to support them in both spirit and study.
