All schools across Fiji are set to reopen tomorrow, Monday, April 13, as conditions following Tropical Cyclone Vaianu continue to stabilise, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says.

Mr Rabuka said students and teachers are expected to return to classes, with clean-up and disinfection works underway to ensure schools are safe.

He said while conditions were improving, recovery efforts remained ongoing across affected areas.

Four evacuation centres remain active nationwide, supporting families in the Western and Eastern divisions.

In the West, three centres are assisting 12 households and 43 evacuees, including Saint Andrews Primary School in Nadi, which remains open due to flooding along the Nawaka tramline. Two centres are also operating in Nadroga at Nalele and Yako village halls.

In the Eastern Division, one evacuation centre remains active in Lawaki Village, Kadavu, supporting two households and 19 evacuees.

Mr Rabuka said Government teams would travel to Yasawa on Monday to carry out initial damage assessments and distribute rations.

He said essential services were gradually being restored, with electricity fully restored in Nadi and largely restored in Ba, while work continues in outer areas and parts of Nadroga/Navosa and Lautoka.

Water supply restoration is ongoing, with about 90 per cent of supply in Ba restored and repair works continuing at the Matovo Water Treatment Plant in Nadroga.

All previously closed roads in Nadroga/Navosa are now accessible following debris clearance, with further inspections and repairs to continue.

Health teams are conducting awareness on leptospirosis, typhoid, dengue and diarrhoeal diseases in affected communities, while evacuation centres are being disinfected to prepare schools for reopening.

Mr Rabuka urged the public to remain cautious and follow official advisories as recovery efforts continue.
