New student leaders aim to strengthen discipline at South Taveuni Secondary

Discipline and leadership are at the top of the agenda for the newly appointed student leaders at South Taveuni Secondary School this year.

Head boy Paula Wasei and head girl Sisilia Colaudolu say they are determined to inspire fellow students and help create a more positive school environment.

School principal Savitri Shankaran confirmed that 40 student leaders have been appointed, including form, junior and senior prefects, along with the head boy and head girl.

Ms Colaudolu, 18, of Belaivuna, Taveuni, served as deputy head girl last year and said she was ready to take on the role with the support of her fellow prefects.

She thanked her parents and teachers for encouraging her to step up as a role model for younger students.

“My role model is my elder sister, who inspires me to lead with patience and dedication,” she said.

“The change I would love to bring is discipline, stronger leadership, and a culture of respect in my school.”

Head boy Paula Wasei, 18, from Qarawalu, Taveuni, said he planned to lead by example and work closely with students and teachers throughout the year.

He also acknowledged the support of his parents and teachers, which he said had helped shape his leadership journey.

“I use timetables to meet my schedules and ensure I balance academic work and student leadership duties,” he said.

“My goal is to strengthen discipline among students, promote responsibility, and encourage a positive attitude toward learning.”

Both student leaders said they were committed to working together to make the year one of achievement, discipline and pride for South Taveuni Secondary School.
