Tilak High School’s newly inducted head prefects have pledged to promote unity and discipline among students.

Head girl Shreya Naidu and head boy Aarav Narayan shared that leadership is a journey shaped by hard work, sacrifice, and ambition.

Shreya, from Lautoka, reflected on years of dedication that led to her appointment.

From serving as a prefect to assistant head girl, and from representing the school in the Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) to being part of a national‑winning mathematics team, her journey has been marked by consistency and quiet determination.

“Being head girl is not just about wearing a badge; it is about being a role model,” she said.

“I will always strive to lead by example and uphold the values of our school. Let us uplift one another instead of bringing each other down.”

She aspires to become a professor in medical science, driven by a desire to give back and inspire others through education.

Head boy Aarav, of Ba, shared a story grounded in perseverance. He has held leadership roles since primary school and was the highest scorer in the Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination at the school.

“Leadership is not measured by authority, but by impact. For me, it is about service, accountability, and the courage to stand firm for what is right,” he said.

“As the saying goes, a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. That is the standard I hold myself to. This position is not just a target for me; it is the accomplishment of a dream from many years.”

A passionate footballer and mathematics leader in the TMC, Aarav hopes to become a pilot, a goal he says requires focus and resilience.

Together, their stories reflect the aspirations of many young Fijians, where education, character, and opportunity intersect.

As they take on their new roles, they carry not just badges, but the hopes of a school community looking towards a brighter future.
