The University of the South Pacific (USP) has emerged victorious in the 2025 Inter-Tertiary Moot Court Competition, a milestone achievement for its Law Students’ Association after months of preparation.
USP edged out the Fiji National University (FNU) Law Students’ Association in the finals last Friday, impressing the judges with sharp arguments and a deep understanding of the law.

President of the USP Law Students’ Association, Tomasi Biumaiwai, credited the success to teamwork, mentorship, and faith.
“I would like to firstly thank the Lord Jesus for His divine guidance on the team and leading them to the win. The team had worked hard with the assistance of their mentors, Shivendra Nath and Navneel Sharma, which has brought them this far,” he said.
“This victory is a comeback for USP, and we are truly grateful to our supporters who stood by us.”
For the students, the experience was both humbling and inspiring.
“This win means so much to us. It shows that with commitment, unity, and faith, even a small team from a small island can stand tall,” said team member Ngu Paunga.

Fellow teammate Soane Tupola admitted the contest was intense.
“It is never easy going before sitting judges, especially from the High Court. But once I began my submissions, it felt more like assisting the court than arguing,” he said.
Teammate Fololeni Loloma described the contest as “both exciting and inspiring,” adding that the result left the team “overwhelmed with gratitude.”
Mr Biumaiwai said the victory belongs not only to USP but to every Pacific student striving to achieve on the global stage.
“It reminds us that our small island nations have the talent and determination to compete on any stage. We are proud to carry this victory for USP, and even more determined to raise the bar in years to come,” he said.
