The Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces conducted Operation Sasamaki yesterday, a community clean-up campaign from Blackrock Camp to the Votualevu roundabout.
During the operation, officers and personnel collected rubbish, cleared drains and tidied areas along the main route.
In a statement, the Joint Task Force Command said the initiative was part of its end-of-month activities aimed at giving back to communities while strengthening civil-military relations and fostering civic pride.

“The effort reflects the commitment of the RFMF not only to national security, but also to community wellbeing and environmental stewardship," said the statement.
“Operation Sasamaki also seeks to reshape public perception by highlighting the broader role of the military.
“While the RFMF continues to support national efforts in addressing illicit activities such as drug-related offences, it remains equally dedicated to contributing positively to society through outreach and engagement initiatives,” the statement added.
It said meaningful partnerships with communities were essential to building trust, resilience and shared responsibility for a clean and safe environment.
The RFMF will continue similar initiatives as part of its commitment to service beyond the uniform.
Votualevu resident Lawrence Kumar welcomed the initiative.
“This sets an example for members of the public to follow,” he said.
“As citizens, we need to do the right thing by keeping our towns, cities and neighbourhoods clean.”
