Ten Government stations in the Northern Division have received new resources to strengthen emergency response and improve service delivery.

The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management provided generators, water tanks and mobile phones during a week-long tour of the North by Minister Mosese Bulitavu, which ended last Saturday.

The equipment was distributed to three provincial administration offices in Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata, and several district offices, including Taveuni, Tukavesi, Saqani, Seaqaqa, Wainikoro, Lekutu and Kubulau.

The initiative, funded through the Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO), cost $42,000.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Labasa, Mr Bulitavu said the resources were critical for improving response during disasters.

“Our officials serve tirelessly and it is our responsibility to equip them with what they need to protect communities and continue serving the people diligently,” he said.

“These essential resources will also strengthen the officers’ capacity to respond during emergencies.”

Mr Bulitavu said the initiative reflected the Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting frontline officers and strengthening disaster preparedness in the Northern Division.
