One hundred dollars in trying times as such is helpful.

And I would like to thank the Government for providing this unemployment assistance to poor people like me.

Those were the words of a Jadubans of Coqeloa, Labasa when collecting his money from Vodafone Fiji Limited outlet in Labasa on Thursday.

“Only those who don’t have food to eat or a blanket to protect oneself from cold weather, understand the value of money whether given by Government, neighbour or non-government organisation,” Jadubans said.

“With this money I will buy some groceries and one blanket for my unemployed son.”

While walking with one clutch to support his amputated left foot, the 64-year-old grandfather said if only he didn’t have diabetes he would have been working in the sugarcane farm to financially support himself.

“For four years I have been staying at home and it has been difficult for us to employ labourers to harvest cane,” the father of three children said.

“Now that at least we will have some food at home, my son will manage to harvest the cane by himself.”
