Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka opening of the Pacific Specialist Healthcare Private Hospital at Legalega, Nadi on July 4, 2023.

Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) is a testament to our local skills and experience to build, equip and manage hospitals.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka made these comments during the opening of the PSH Private Hospital at Legalega, Nadi yesterday.

Mr Rabuka said Government also recognised the potential of a growing medical tourism market in the country.

He is confident that PSH services to the tourism industry will attract health conscience travellers and retirees who can now travel to Fiji knowing that an advanced private hospital is available to cater to their needs.

“Establishing a niche market only makes business sense as Fiji is the hub of the South Pacific; nestled between two developed nations whose citizens can whisk away on short-hour flights to access world-class health care at a lower cost than what they may have to pay for at home,” he said.

The PSH Private Hospital is an advanced super specialty 100-bed surgical facility.

The hospital is located next to the Nadi International Airport.

Its capability to provide medical services and build the capacity of Pacific doctors and clinical teams promote regionalism.

Medical personnel from across the Pacific can train and upgrade skills at PSH at no cost - a gift from Fiji.

Mr Rabuka commended the owner and director, Parvish Kumar and those who supported his vision.

Mr Kumar said he understood that people sought medical treatment abroad because of the costs of healthcare in developed nations had increased exceedingly.

“PSH will also be a teaching hospital supporting academia and research with plans to establish a drug manufacturing and validation plant,” he said
