100% Pass Rate for Nadogo Central College

Students of Nadogo Central College recorded a 100 per cent pass rate for the 2023 Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination (FY13CE).

All 40 students, who sat for the Year 13 external examination recorded a pass.

The school joined Dreketi Central College on the list of 100 per cent pass rate for northern schools.

School manager Solomone Catarogo said the achievement fulfilled the school’s long term goal.

Mr Catarogo said the pass rate was a result of the hard work by teachers and students during the year.

He said the performance of teachers during the year was exemplary where students did well in their internal exams.

“I felt confident our students’ pass rate would be good because the standard of teachers was exemplary,” he said.

“The school recorded a pass rate of 90 per cent (FY13CE) in 2022 and surely a six per cent increase is progress.”

The rural-based school is located about 20 kilometres from Labasa Town.

Mr Catarogo said resuts showed his students had the ability to compete with couterparts from urban-based schools.

“We can compete; it depends on each student’s determination to achieve a quality pass,” he said.

“A change of management saw the college prosper.”

The former school board chairman who took the managerial position last year, believed breaking barriers to assert the presence of a quality school took shape.

The school committee along with teachers have been tasked to continue the steady progress in 2024.

When approached for his advice, Mr Catarogo said the benchmark had been set for this year’s Year 13s so “equalling it must be the aim”.

The highest mark of the FY13CE for the school is 352/400.
