Fiji Corrections Service officers can expect a pay increase following the National Budget announcement on June 28, 2024.
The often neglected Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) salary increase discussion caught a new light yesterday as Government dedicated an additional $12 million to cater for salary increase for officers.
While delivering the 2024-2025 National Budget Address in Parliament, Minister for Finance Biman Prasad said an additional $2million has also been dedicated to recruiting 81 new staff for the institution.
“The additional cost of the total salary increase as I highlighted earlier is around $85 million,” Mr Prasad said.

“Following this major salary adjustment exercise, we will work with the Australian government to undertake a holistic functional review of the civil service establishment and salary structure across public entities.”
Mr Prasad underscored that there is an urgent need to bring parity in the salaries of publicly funded employees and right size the establishment.
He further revealed that Government is exploring options for a medical insurance scheme for civil servants, which will be all across the board.
“As a large employer, this will be a costly exercise for Government and thus we will need to carefully consider the timing and mechanics of how this is going to work,” Mr Prasad said.
“We are also reviewing the General Orders to relook at other employment conditions and allowances paid to civil servants.”
